Emily Minaker

Physical therapist; MPT, Bkin

Island born and raised, Emily has always been curious about the human body and, from a young age, knew that the convergence of medicine and movement was a career-path she would ultimately pursue. Graduating with a Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia, Emily also studied kinesiology and psychology at UBC during her undergraduate degree. Emily is dedicated to working with clients to meet their personal goals and recognizes the necessity of quality therapist-client communication in achieving best possible rehabilitation outcomes and personal experience. She holds certifications in Acupuncture Canada Dry Needling, Pelvic Health Solutions Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, and Craniofascial Therapy. She is trained in Postural Restoration Institute’s model of physical medicine, which examines the science of postural adaptations, asymmetrical patterns, and polyarticular chains of muscles, and she has completed Yoga Teacher Training with YYoga (formerly Flow Yoga). Emily provides a comprehensive range of treatment modalities and options to facilitate a deeper understanding of and recovery from your injuries, conditions, and limitations; she believes that every appointment is an opportunity for the client to learn more about their mental and physical health. You can expect your physio session to be interactive and fun, with an emphasis on creating optimal postural patterns necessary to withstand demands on the body associated with day-to-day work and tasks. In her spare time, you can find Emily participating in any and most physical activity, from snowboarding at Whistler-Blackcomb to playing tennis at Kits Beach. Other passions include travelling, music, dance, and cooking. Emily is personable and warm, and looks forward to sharing her knowledge and experience, as well as a story or two!

What People Are Saying

Emily is an incredible physio who I have seen for many years. Over the years she has helped me with chronic headaches through a combination of manual techniques and exercises. She has also greatly helped reduce my neck tension with her cranial sacral techniques. She is very skilled and professional, I can’t recommend her enough!

Can't recommend Emily enough.  I've required her skills a couple times over the past few years, having dealt with plantar fasciitis and a torn meniscus in my knee.  In both instances she seemed to have an uncanny ability to get to the root of the issue for treatment rather than simply treating the site of the symptoms.  Her understanding of how everything connects in the body as a system is evident and has always left me confident that my rehab will be successful and timely.

I've been seeing Emily for the last year now and I can't say how much she's improved my life. Her approach to care is calm and thorough and she really helps you understand what's happening with your body. She's helped me through many injuries with hands on care and education to help with prevention and maintenance. Highly, highly recommend if you're looking for a new physio. You will be in excellent hands !

I first started seeing Emily in late 2022 / early 2023 after a serious workplace injury, at a time when I honestly didn’t know what my physical future would look like. I was dealing with pain, uncertainty, and a lot of doubt about whether I’d ever get back to feeling like myself again. From day one, Emily was incredible. Not only is she highly knowledgeable and professional, but she genuinely cares about her patients in a way that goes far beyond the clinic. She took the time to understand my injury, my mindset, and my goals. Even when I didn’t fully have those goals figured out yet. What started as a recovery journey slowly turned into something much bigger. Through her guidance, encouragement, and carefully structured rehab, I went from not running at all in 2023 to discovering a passion for running, and eventually ultramarathons. Emily played such a pivotal role in that transformation. She helped me rebuild not just physically, but mentally, giving me the confidence to push my limits safely and progressively. Fast forward to 2025, and I completed the Cocodona 250-mile ultramarathon, something I never could have imagined during those early rehab sessions. That achievement is deeply connected to the foundation Emily helped me build. I can’t recommend her enough. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, trying to get back to sport, or even chasing big, ambitious goals, Emily is the kind of physiotherapist who will truly be in your corner every step of the way. Thank you, Emily, for being such a huge part of my journey.
